In Karijoki, nature produces and Hartwall bottles
The small municipality of Karijoki is situated in the valleys of the Karijoki and Teuvanjoki rivers in Southern Ostrobothnia. Besides crop-growing fields, Karijoki abounds with extensive forests. The region’s gravel ridges are some of Finland’s deepest, and they act as efficient natural filters. The water is particularly pure and fresh. Karijoki is one of the best spring water areas in the country.
Hartwall Novelle spring water and products made using spring water are bottled at Karijoki. Production capacity at the bottling plant amounts to around 33 million litres per year. The plant has great significance for this predominantly agricultural municipality of a little more than 1,600 inhabitants and its surrounding area.
Tomas Lindfors, plant manager at the Karijoki production facility, plays an energetic role in developing the region’s business and industry, such as in his capacity as member of Karijoen Yrittäjät ry, the local association of Finnish enterprises. The plant’s employees have a say on common issues, which includes active participation on various committees and boards.
“We have a deep respect for the environment in which we operate. The surrounding community is an excellent place for us to work in, and our most valuable raw material bubbles up straight from the spring,” he says.
