Freixenet – the world’s leading producer of sparkling wine – has revamped the look of its main products, Cordon Negro, Carta Nevada and Cordon Rosado. Its cava bottles got a crisper look without losing their elegant and instantly recognisable basic elements. Finland was the first country in the world to get the new bottles onto its shelves.
During its century-plus history, Spanish company Freixenet has become the world’s leading producer of sparkling wines. Its cava, which is made using the traditional champagne method, is sold in about 125 countries. This year, the company’s most popular brands – Cordon Negro, Carta Nevada and Cordon Rosado – all received a makeover.
The new packaging is the result of three years of marketing development efforts, which have included a major worldwide consumer survey. The new bottles have a crisp, up-to-date, consumer-friendly look, but without sacrificing Freixenet’s familiar elements, such as the frosted glass bottles and black and gold colour scheme. Piccolo bottles have also been given the new look.
Thanks to Freixenet’s strong market position in Finland – semi-dry, fruity Carta Nevada Semi Seco was the best selling sparkling wine in 2007 – the new packaging was introduced first in Finland. The pleasantly sharp, dry taste of Cordon Negro Brut has long been a Finnish favourite, as ‘black cava’ arrived in Finland twenty years ago.
The growing demand for sparkling rosé wines has been filled by Freixenet Brut Rosé, which has now changed its name to Freixenet Cordon Rosado in connection with the new look. Refreshingly dry Cordon Rosado Brut is sold in 75 cl bottles, with the slightly sweeter, rose-red Cordon Rosado Seco available in piccolos.
Freixenet has accompanied its new-look packaging with a worldwide advertising concept: ‘Unplan the Moment’. Check out this stylish theme at www.unplanthemoment.com. The campaign will also run in the Finnish media over the early summer.
The Freixenet sparkling wines available in Finland are Cordon Negro Brut, Carta Nevada Semi Seco, Cordon Rosado Brut, Cordon Rosado Seco, Brut Nature Vintage and Reserva Réal.
Freixenet wines are imported and marketed by Hartwa-Trade Ltd. A Finnish language website has now gone online at www.freixenet.fi.
