Hartwall is one of Finland’s most desired employers

A survey of students at vocational education institutions indicates that Hartwall is one of Finland’s most desired employers.

In January-March 2008, the employer branding company Universum surveyed young students at vocational education institutions about their views on companies in Finland. Hartwall achieved excellent results in the survey: business students voted the company as the fifth most desired employer, while technical students voted it sixth.

“Young people’s impressions are based on real experiences – in other words, how they have felt about Hartwall products, summer jobs or, say, co-operation with educational institutions. Our high ranking shows that they’ve had good experiences of us – this means we have every reason to be really satisfied with the results,” says Piia Järvinen, Hartwall’s HR manager.

Järvinen says that employer image surveys are like external personnel surveys. “They enable us to keep track of Hartwall’s – and the whole food industry’s – attractiveness as an employer. Surveys among students are particularly important, as their ranks include our future employees.”

Finnair and Nokia were the most popular employers among both business and technical students at vocational education institutions. Other top ten employers included the S Group (SOK), the Finnish Defence Forces, Volvo Cars, YIT and Kesko.

The respondents were over 2,100 young people studying at vocational education institutions around Finland. They included students of business and administration, tourism, catering and domestic services, technology and transport, and natural resources. The survey also looked into what young people value in their employers and what career objectives they have set for themselves. All vocational students stated that they wish to achieve a balance between work and leisure time.
