What do you get when you combine a good deal of character with a hint of the smokiness of tar? The answer is the full-bodied and strong Karjala Terva 6.3%, the highly anticipated new beer from Hartwall, set to be launched early next year.
Hartwall is proud to continue playing a major role in developing Finnish beer culture. The goal is to improve beer's image and increase its appreciation.
"Beer is a quality beverage created from pure ingredients with lots of traditional expertise. Increasing public appreciation of beer to the level it deserves is an important objective for Hartwall. Hartwall's new addition to the beer market in the early part of next year is the gently tar-flavored Karjala Terva. The aroma of tar makes the beer full-bodied and deep and gives it plenty of character. The color of the beer is brown with a shade of copper. The beer is strong with 6.3% alcohol by volume.
"Tar as an ingredient in beer is a Finnish thing, you'd be hard pressed to find any tar-flavored beer in other countries. Tar beer also stands apart from German rauchbier-style smoked beers. Karjala Terva is a proudly Finnish tar-flavored lager with a strong character", says Master Brewer Mika Mäkelä .
