New Hartwall Napapiirin Jaffa Sprung from Film Cooperation

Hartwall Napapiirin JaffaWhat kind of soft drink is the result of inspiration from the rugged Ylläs landscape in the new Finnish film, Lapland Odyssey? Hartwall Napapiirin Jaffa (Arctic Jaffa) is a fresh new beverage combining tart cranberries with refreshing currants.  The authentic flavour of the new, deliciously red soft drink is created with natural aromas, just like all Hartwall Jaffa beverages.

The drink contains a dash of the northern freshness seen in Dome Karukoski’s film, Lapland Odyssey.

- The mellow astringency of the cranberry and the rich flavour of the currant suit the Finnish palate well, says Hartwall Jaffa Brand Manager Marleena Jalassola.
- Young people like to try new flavours. We believe that in addition to young people, the cranberry-currant combination will also appeal to adults.

Supporting actress found through Hartwall Jaffa Sauma

Dome Karukoski’s fourth film, Lapland Odyssey, is an adventure comedy and romantic road movie through Lapland and a Finnish man’s soul.  Much like in Dome’s previous films, the cast includes both well-known actors and fresh faces: Jussi Vatanen, Jasper Pääkkönen, Timo Lavikainen, Pamela Tola, Kari Ketonen, and Miia Nuutila. Supporting actress Melissa Heininen, chosen among 1,300 applicants through the Hartwall Jaffa Sauma youth project, got to play a scene with Jasper Pääkkönen.

-  We wanted to support the Finnish film industry and offer a young talent the opportunity to make their dream come true, says Marleena Jalassola.
- Dome Karukoski’s film and Jaffa inspire people to be themselves and believe in doing their own things. This film’s main characters are extremely lovable, because they are so authentic and sympathetic – just like Jaffa.

Dome Karukoski’s previous films, Beauty and the Bastard (2005), The Home of Dark Butterflies (2007), and Forbidden Fruit (2009), have been praised by audiences and critics alike. Beauty and the Bastard got a sensational eight Jussi award nominations, and The Home of Dark Butterflies was Finland's official Oscar nominee in 2008. Hartwall Jaffa sponsored both Beauty and the Bastard and Forbidden Fruit.

The Hartwall Napapiirin Jaffa soft drink will be sold in 1.5 litre recyclable plastic bottles. The energy content of this sugar-sweetened soft drink is 33 kcal/dl. The new beverage will be sold as of 16 Aug 2010.
The premiere of Lapland Odyssey is on 15 Oct 2010.
