The new Hartwall Jaffa Super drinks, with their green caps, will be the first stevia-sweetened drinks to be sold in Finland. The new drinks will be available in stores in the beginning of December.
Although stevia, obtained from the Stevia rebaudiana plant, is a novelty in Finland, it has been used for centuries by South America’s indigenous peoples to sweeten tea drinks and season food. Stevia has also been used as a sweetener in other parts of the world for a long time. Stevia, which was approved in November 2011 by the European Union for use as a sweetening agent, combines two properties in a way never seen before: stevia, which is as much as three hundred times sweeter than ordinary sugar, is completely calorie-free and comes from nature.
New Jaffa Super beverages correspond to the wishes of consumers
Innovative beverage industry leader Hartwall has studied the use of stevia as a food sweetener for a long time, and will bring Finland’s first beverages sweetened with stevia onto the market in December. For Finnish consumers interested in health and wellbeing, Hartwall Jaffa Super offers valued features: lightness and naturalness.
In Jaffa Super, lightness and naturalness are combined with a super good taste. The taste of the drinks has been refined in the best way by adding a splash of fructose along with stevia. The new drinks contain 20 kilocalories/100 ml.
The traditional Hartwall Jaffa Veriappelsiini, which has been on the market since 1955, will now be Super. The lively red beverage is a fresh and fruity soft drink which has a delightful spurt of blood orange. Hartwall Jaffa Super Sitrus, on the other hand, combines the popular flavours of citrus, orange and lemon. Just like with all Hartwall Jaffa drinks, the new Jaffa Super drinks get their flavour from real fruit, as they contain exclusively natural flavours.
The Hartwall Super Veriappelsiini and Sitrus soft drinks sweetened with stevia and fructose will arrive in stores in the first half of December, when the sale of drinks sweetened with stevia becomes possible in Finland on 2 December. In the beginning the drinks will be available in 0.5 litre recyclable plastic bottles. In the end of January, the Jaffa Super soft drinks will be available in 1.5 litre bottles, too. The Jaffa Super soft drinks can be distinguished from other Hartwall Jaffa drinks by their green cap, the green background on the label and the stevia mark.
